Scenes from the Streets of Kathmandu, Nepal

A selection of street photography from Kathmandu, Nepal

The devastating earthquakes in Nepal are nothing short of tragic. Nepal is a country that holds a special place in my heart. I fell in love with Kathmandu the moment I arrived, and it is so sad to think of all of those beautiful old buildings, temples, world heritage sites and homes that are now destroyed.

The people of Nepal will be affected by this cruel act of nature for a long time to come.

I wanted to create this photo essay of Kathmandu street scenes since the first quake struck, but every time I go to look through my folder of photos from Nepal, the task seems too great. I took a lot of photographs in Nepal, particularly in Kathmandu, and it is difficult to chose a selection that truly embody the beauty of Nepal I remember so well, not to mention the spirit of its people.

That is why I haven’t posted in a while. Every time I go to look through the photographs, it’s too hard to pick ones and I keep putting off completing the task. However, I can’t keep putting it off, so here is a very small selection street photography from Kathmandu, focusing on the people of Nepal taken on the streets of Kathmandu last year.

I haven’t been to Nepal but it is in my bucket list as I have heard so many beautiful things about it. The tragedy is heart breaking.
